The objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of organic cotton sanitary pad over regular sanitary pad and to identify the association between the use of organic cotton sanitary pads over regular sanitary pads among nursing students with selected demographic variables.
Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used with a quantitative approach. The study included 30 samples,15 in Experimental and 15 in Control group.Data Collection tools included questionnaire to assess the knowledge and Likert Scale to assess the attitude regarding organic sanitary pad in experimental group and questionnaire and Opinionnaire in control group. Results: Paired t-test was applied for the effectiveness of organic cotton sanitary pad over regular sanitary pad. Average knowledge score in pretest was 1.8 which increased to 4.7 in posttest. Two sample t-test was applied for the comparison of knowledge gain among nursing students in experimental and control group. Average knowledge gain in experimental group was 2.9 which was 0 in control group. In experimental group, in pretest 40% of the nursing students had negative attitude and 60%of them had positive attitude. In posttest all of them had positive attitude. This indicates the attitude among nursing students improved remarkably in experimental group.Fisher’s exact test was applied for association between the use of organic cotton sanitary pads over regular sanitary pads among nursing students with selected demographic variables.None of the demographic variables were found to have significant association with the knowledge among nursing students regarding Conclusion: The findings indicated that the nursing students found organic sanitary pad more effective and cheap and bio degradable as compared to regular sanitary pad.
