The neck of femur is engrossed due to osseous neoformation , the line of Morgan can be shown as well as exostosis. The acetabulum loses depth and osseous neoformation appears, exostosis.
The head of femur loses its spherical shape, is flattened, and presents a deformation with the shape of a mushroom or jellyfish.
The quality of diagnosis will be ensured by the radiologic technique and correct positioning. (Measurement with Norberg angle).
For the diagnosis breed differences and the age of the dog must also be taken into account.
Errors in pelvis and legs positioning and low technical quality are considered to be unsatisfactory for diagnosis.
